Massachusetts Senate passes three bills, names conferees on pet and home care disputes

BOSTON — The Massachusetts Senate passed three local bills and named conferees on two contested measures in a brief Sunday session. The chamber approved, by unanimous voice vote, House No. 4224 validating the New Salem Annual Town Election, House No. 5561 authorizing a land transfer in Norton by the Commissioner of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance, and House No. 5227 regulating Ward Councilor vacancy-filling in Marlborough. On the pet equity bill, Senate No. 3028, the Senate non-concurred in House changes and appointed Senators Paul R.

Feeney, Jason M. Lewis, and Bruce E. Tarr as conferees.

On House No. 4706, the Massachusetts home care bill, the Senate insisted on its own amendment language and named Senators William N. Brownsberger, Patricia D. Jehlen, and Ryan C.

Fattman to meet with House conferees Representatives Stanley, Moran, and DeCoste. Senator Patrick M. O'Connor moved the adjournment order setting the next session for Wednesday at 1 p.m.
