Massachusetts Senate engrosses land transfer bills for Bourne, Norwood, Weston in brief session

BOSTON — The Massachusetts Senate advanced more than a dozen local land transfer and charter measures in a brief Tuesday session, adjourning in under an hour. Bills passed to be enacted included House No. 3911 amended (Millis charter), House No. 4224 (New Salem town election validation), and House No. 5227 (Marlborough ward counselor vacancies), all approved unanimously by voice vote. House No. 5561, authorizing the Commissioner of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance to transfer parcels in Norton, cleared an emergency preamble vote two-to-nothing before passage.

Senate No. 3169, covering MassDOT easements in Woburn and Burlington, passed to be engrossed after Senator Cindy F. Friedman offered a substitute amendment; House No. 5553, an eminent-domain bill for Norwood, cleared after a substitute offered by Senator Michael F. Rush.

House No. 5595, a patient access to care bill arriving from the House, was referred to the Committee on Rules on a motion by Senator Michael D. Brady, signaling further Senate review before a floor vote.
