Massachusetts Senate passes Boston age-waiver, Pittsfield charter bills in brief session
Sessions-Senate · Meeting of August 4, 2026
BOSTON — The Massachusetts Senate passed two local bills and advanced a Marion liquor license measure in a brief session Tuesday. The chamber unanimously engrossed Senate No. 3017, directing the Boston Police Department to waive its maximum age requirement for candidate Elijah George Osborne, and House No. 4716, amending the Charter of the City of Pittsfield, both by voice vote after third readings. A senator identified as Ms.
Sattah of the First Essex and Middlesex district moved to immediately take up House No. 5451, authorizing Marion to grant an additional off-premises all-alcoholic-beverages license, which was ordered to a third reading without objection. The Senate also adopted resolutions honoring Cherry Farm Creamery on its 50th anniversary and adjourned in memory of Lisa A. Gregorio, a Boston Fire Department fire alarm operator praised by the presiding officer as "a critical link between the residents in crisis and emergency personnel." The Senate is scheduled to reconvene Thursday at 11 a.m.
