Massachusetts House Advances Bellingham Charter, Easthampton Licensing Bills in Brief Session

BOSTON — Massachusetts House advances local bills and extends Transportation Committee deadline in short informal session. The House met briefly on August 4, adopting a resolution filed by Representatives Michelle L. Badger of Plymouth and Kathleen R.

LaNatra of Kingston commending Plymouth on National Purple Heart Day recognition, then passing an order by Representatives James Arciero of Westford and Edward R. Philips of Sharon extending the Transportation Committee's reporting deadline to January 5, 2027, under House number 5619. Two local bills were ordered to a third reading: House number 5547, extending a licensing time frame in the City of Easthampton under Chapter 46 of the Acts of 2020, and House number 5564, amending Bellingham's charter to allow its Director of Finance to serve simultaneously as Town Accountant, both with local approval already received.

Speaker Ronald Mariano of Quincy offered the adjournment order setting the next session for Thursday at 11 a.m.
