House Sends Health Care, Home Care, and Campaign Finance Bills to Conference

BOSTON -- The Massachusetts House declined to concur with the Senate on two major policy bills Wednesday, sending a health care workplace violence prevention measure and a home care improvement bill to separate conference committees. On the workplace violence bill, House Bill 4767, the House rejected the Senate's substitute text and appointed Representatives Michael S. Day of Stoneham, Brandy Fluker-Reid of Boston, and Hannah Kane of Shrewsbury as its conferees.

On the home care bill, House Bill 4706, the House similarly declined the Senate's substitute and named Representatives Thomas M. Stanley of Waltham, Frank A. Moran of Lawrence, and David F.

DeCoste of Norwell to negotiate. A third conference committee was formed on Senate Bill 2916, the Improving Campaign Finance Reporting for Statewide Ballot Questions bill, with Representatives Daniel J. Hunt of Boston, Alice Hanlon Peisch of Wellesley, and Paul K.

Frost of Auburn carrying the House position. The chamber also unanimously passed six local bills to be engrossed, covering fire protection, digital legal notices for Wellesley, liquor licensing in Westfield and Weston, a senior property tax exemption for Wakefield, and financial department changes in Holyoke.
