Massachusetts Senate Passes Seven Bills, Sends Three to Governor in Brief Session

BOSTON — June 1, 2026 — The Massachusetts Senate passed or advanced seven bills without dissent in a brief June 1 formal session. Three bills were sent to the Governor: Senate No. 1446, amending the Tewksbury town charter to modify the residency requirement for the town manager; and House Nos. 4390 and 4442, exempting Nick Santos and Anthony Morales, respectively, from the maximum age requirement for police officer appointments in Haverhill. Two local parking bills also received final passage — Senate No. 2577 regulating parking fines in Scituate and House No. 4231 on parking enforcement in Cambridge, the latter amended by Senator William N. Brownsberger to substitute the text of Senate No. 3106. The Senate Ways and Means Committee, with Senator Michael J. Rodrigues as reporting member, advanced the Toxic-Free Medical Devices Act (Senate No. 3106) and a bill on the commercial interior design profession (Senate No. 3107) to third reading. Senator Kelly A. Dooner moved adjournment to a full formal session Thursday at 11 a.m.
