Massachusetts House Sends FY2026 Supplemental Budget to Conference Committee

BOSTON — April 16, 2026 — The Massachusetts House rejected the Senate's version of the fiscal year 2026 supplemental budget and appointed a three-member conference committee to resolve differences. House Ways and Means Chair Aaron Michlewitz of Boston will lead the panel, joined by Representative Kip A. Diggs of Barnstable and Representative Kenneth P. Sweezey of Duxbury; the Senate had returned House No. 5280 with an amendment substituting the full text of Senate Document No. 3054. The House also received and then postponed action on the fiscal year 2027 general appropriations bill, House No. 5500, until April 27 on a motion by Assistant Majority Leader Alice Hanlon Peisch of Wellesley. Six additional bills were ordered to a third reading, including a LIHEAP automatic re-enrollment measure and a tow lien reform bill, and four local bills were passed to be engrossed covering elections in Haverhill and Conway, fire district employment in Dalton, and the renaming of Wheater Park Tennis Courts in honor of Kim O'Connell.
