Massachusetts House Enacts Boston Police Age Waivers, Advances Seven Local Bills

BOSTON — March 30, 2026 — Massachusetts House passes two Boston Police age waivers and advances seven local measures in a brief informal session. The House, presided over by Speaker Pro Tempore Kate Hogan, passed to enactment House Bills 3925 and 4740, directing the Boston Police Department to waive minimum age requirements for individual officers Domi Palmera and Ryan Kazee, on unanimous voice votes. Seven additional locally approved bills — covering topics from a Chatham housing trust fund and a Marblehead means-tested senior property tax exemption to expanded Auburn property tax abatements and a North Adams retired-officer detail authorization — were ordered to a third reading. Representative Michelle L. Badger of Plymouth moved the key procedural suspension that cleared the path for the North Adams measure. The House also engrossed a sick leave bank bill for Department of Children and Families employee Courtney Cochran before adjourning to Thursday at 11 a.m.
