Massachusetts House Advances Six Local Housing and Governance Bills to Third Reading

BOSTON — March 26, 2026 — Massachusetts House advances six local housing and governance bills to third reading in informal session. Speaker Pro Tempore Kate Hogan presided over a brief March 26 session in which all actions passed by unanimous voice vote with no recorded roll calls. The six bills, all carrying local approval designations, include House 3909 allowing Provincetown's Year-Round Market Rate Rental Housing Trust to acquire housing opportunity restrictions, House 4288 creating an affordable housing preference for commercial fishermen in Chatham under the Affordable Homes Act's seasonal communities provision, and House 4887 authorizing Plymouth to establish a special revenue land acquisition account. Three other bills were engrossed, including House 3790 designating a Pembroke intersection as the Lavina A. Hatch Corner and House 4879 granting Jonathan Gagney a civil service age waiver for a Haverhill police officer examination. The House adjourned to reconvene Monday, March 30, at 11 a.m. in another informal session.
