House Enacts Cambridge Parking Bill, Advances Two Local Charter Measures

BOSTON — July 6, 2026 — The Massachusetts House passed a Cambridge parking enforcement bill and advanced two local charter measures in a brief Sunday session, adjourning in under ten minutes. House No. 4231, an act relative to parking enforcement in the City of Cambridge, was passed to be enacted on a unanimous voice vote and now heads to the governor. The House also ordered to a third reading House No. 5426, amending the charter of the Town of North Attleboro, and House No. 5434, providing for the appointment of associate Planning Board members in the Town of Tisbury — both bills carrying local approval. Representative Donald H. Wong of Saugus managed floor proceedings while Speaker Ronald Mariano of Quincy offered the adjournment order, scheduling the next formal session for Wednesday, July 8, at 11 a.m. The House also adopted an order extending the Committee on Education's reporting deadline on House No. 5559 to July 17, 2026.
