Massachusetts Senate Passes Six Local Bills, Adjourns in Minutes

BOSTON — February 2, 2026 — The Massachusetts Senate passed six bills by unanimous voice vote in a session lasting only minutes on Monday. The measures included Senate No. 2574, granting accidental death benefits to the surviving spouse of a former Boston firefighter; Senate No. 2652, authorizing Taunton to set a separate water billing rate for manufactured housing communities; House No. 862, establishing a recall process for elected officials in Sharon; and Senate No. 2110, designating the last week in April as Building Trades Recovery Week. Two House-originated bills — House No. 924, further regulating the Great Barrington Fire District, and House No. 4859, allowing the Town of Ludlow to pay an unpaid bill — passed to final enactment and were forwarded to Governor Maura Healey. Senator Patrick M. O'Connor moved the chamber's adjournment to Thursday, February 5, at 11 a.m.
