Massachusetts Senate Passes Middleton Charter, Boylston Selectmen Renaming Bills

BOSTON — April 13, 2026 — Massachusetts Senate passes Middleton charter amendment and Boylston board renaming in brief session. The full Senate met Monday, April 13, for a session lasting only minutes, approving two local government bills by voice vote with Senate Minority Leader Bruce E. Tarr and Senator Peter J. Durant among those active on the floor. House No. 4399, an act amending the charter of the town of Middleton, was passed to be engrossed after Tarr successfully substituted the bill's text with the language of Senate document No. 3053. House No. 4621, renaming Boylston's Board of Selectmen to Select Board, passed to be enacted and will go to the Governor for approval. Durant then moved the chamber to adjourn until a full formal session with a calendar on Wednesday, April 15, at 11 a.m.
