Massachusetts Senate Closes 2025 Session, Sends Two Local Bills to Governor

BOSTON — January 5, 2026 — Massachusetts Senate gavels out the 2025 session in minutes, passing three local bills. The chamber met January 5 for a session lasting only a few minutes, approving by voice vote House Number 4657 authorizing the town of Scituate to issue four additional on-premises all-alcoholic-beverage licenses and House Number 2341 amending the Acushnet town charter, both sent to the Governor. Assistant Minority Leader Kelly A. Dooner won unanimous consent to suspend the rules so that House Number 4621 — renaming Boylston's board of selectmen to select board — could be ordered to a third reading before adjournment.
