Massachusetts Senate Appoints Conferees to Resolve FY2026 Supplemental Budget Dispute

BOSTON — April 16, 2026 — Massachusetts Senate sends FY2026 supplemental budget to a Conference Committee after the House rejected the chamber's amendment. In a brief formal session Thursday, Senator Peter J. Durant moved the Senate to insist on its version of House Number 5280 — which would substitute the full text of Senate Document 3054 into a bill supplementing existing fiscal year 2026 appropriations — and appoint conferees to negotiate with House members Michalowicz, Diggs, and Sweezy. The Chair named Senator Michael J. Rodrigues of First Bristol and Plymouth, Senator Joanne M. Comerford of Hampshire, Franklin, and Worcester, and Senator Patrick M. O'Connor of First Plymouth and Norfolk to the Senate's Conference Committee. The session also advanced a Firefighter Staffing Grant Program petition by Senator Michael D. Brady to the Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security, and passed to be engrossed a bill expanding the Monson Select Board, House Number 4602.
