Massachusetts Senate Adopts Holocaust Remembrance Resolution, Advances Several Bills

BOSTON — January 27, 2026 — The Massachusetts Senate unanimously adopted a Holocaust remembrance resolution and processed a handful of procedural bills in a brief session Tuesday. Majority Leader Cynthia Stone Creem led the resolution marking the 81st anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz Concentration Camp and International Holocaust Remembrance Day, which cited the murder of an estimated 1.1 million prisoners at the camp and condemned "increasing incidents and expressions of anti-Semitism throughout the Commonwealth, the United States and the world." The Senate also ordered to a third reading a sick leave bank bill for trial court employee Shannon Manning, advanced a petition by Lydia Edwards, Patricia D. Jehlen, and Joanne M. Comerford on access to justice to the Committee on Judiciary after suspending joint rule 12, and sent House Bill 4805 — amending the Plainville town charter — to a third reading. Assistant Minority Leader Kelly A. Dooner moved to adjourn the session to a full formal session with calendar on Thursday, January 29, at 11 a.m.
