BOSTON -- May 26, 2026, The Massachusetts House passed a municipal roads and bridges financing bill under emergency status and engrossed a Worcester police appointment age measure during a 13-minute informal session May 26. House Bill 5375, financing long-term improvements to municipal roads and bridges, cleared its emergency preamble on a 7-to-0 division vote, allowing it to take effect immediately upon enactment. House Bill 3929, setting minimum age requirements for original appointment as a police officer in Worcester, passed to be engrossed and now advances to the Senate. Speaker Ronald Mariano offered the adjournment order, sending members home until Thursday at 11 a.m. The House also ordered four local bills to a third reading, covering liquor licenses in Berkeley and Bolton, municipal charge liens in Newton, and a land transfer in Marion, all carrying local approval, and extended the Committee on Education's reporting deadline to June 12, 2026.
