BOSTON -- February 2, 2026, Massachusetts House advances twelve bills and refers governor's supplemental budget in one informal session. The House of Representatives on February 2 referred a fiscal year 2026 supplemental budget message from Gov. Maura Healey, filed January 29 and aimed at responding to recent federal actions, to the Committee on Ways and Means, chaired by Rep. Aaron Michlewitz, without reading spending totals into the record. The chamber extended reporting deadlines to March 18 for both the Committee on Children, Families, and Persons with Disabilities (H. 4989, filed by Reps. Jay D. Livingstone and Judith A. Garcia) and the Committee on Mental Health, Substance Use, and Recovery (H. 4985, filed by Reps. Mindy Domb and Michelle M. DuBois), then ordered eight bills to third reading and engrossed four special acts, including one directing the Boston Police Department to waive its maximum age requirement for officer Louis Cabral (H. 4349) and one continuing Rochester Fire Chief Scott Weigel's employment (H. 4235).
