Massachusetts House Adjourns After Five Minutes With No Legislative Business Conducted

BOSTON — March 12, 2026 — Massachusetts House convenes for under five minutes, honors three championship teams and adjourns. Speaker Pro Tempore Kate Hogan presided over the March 12 informal session, which opened with recognition of the Sutton girls' soccer team — guests of Representative Joseph D. McKenna — whose 19-4 season ended in a fifth consecutive state championship. The Tri-County Varsity Football Team and Boys Cross-Country Track Team, hosted by a delegation including Representatives Jeffrey N. Roy, Marcus S. Vaughn, and Paul McMurtry among others, were also welcomed; the football squad defeated Blue Hills 28-6 to claim a second straight MVADA Medium School Vocational State Championship, while the cross-country team secured a third consecutive small-division state vocational title. Speaker Ronald Mariano of Quincy offered the sole order of business — an adjournment to Monday at 11 a.m. — which passed on a voice vote.
