BOSTON — The Massachusetts Senate passed six local bills and released two property easements in a brief formal session Monday without debate. Two emergency preamble votes, each returning a standing count of two in the affirmative and none in the negative, authorized the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance to release a sewer line easement in the West Roxbury section of Boston (H5304) and to convey land to the town of Bolton or Lancaster (H5440). On voice votes, the chamber also passed to be enacted House Bill 1338 allowing fair compensation of Credit Union Directors and House Bill 5426 amending the charter of the town of North Attleboro, and engrossed three local measures: a real property disability exemption for Swampscott (H4444), a civil service age waiver for prospective Haverhill firefighter Sean Duffy (H5473), and a Lynnfield golf enterprise fund transfer (H5463).
A petition by state Representative Paul McMurtry and state Senator Michael F. Rush to establish a sick leave bank for Department of Correction employee Patrick Nelligan was referred to the Committee on Public Service under a suspended Joint Rule 12.
