BOSTON — The Massachusetts House passed legislation designating an official state sedimentary structure during a brief informal session August 10. House Bill 3438, an act establishing the official sedimentary structure of the Commonwealth, was passed to be engrossed by unanimous voice vote after being released the same day by the Committee on Bills on Third Reading. Speaker Pro Tempore Kate Hogan presided and also sponsored two resolutions, adopted unanimously, honoring Eagle Scouts Andrew Clutcher and David Schwind, Jr. of her Stowe district.
The House also advanced two local home-rule bills: House Bill 5513, authorizing Middleton to continue employing Police Officer Richard Cassiotis, and House Bill 5515, raising property tax abatement eligibility thresholds under MGL Chapter 59 for Shrewsbury residents, both ordered to a third reading after member Michael J. Soter of Bellingham moved suspension of Rule 7A. The House adjourned to meet Thursday at 11 a.m. in informal session.
